Flight Forward Program at West Charlotte High School

We are excited to introduce the inaugural Sullenberger Flight Forward Program at West Charlotte High School, generously supported by 5/3 Bank. This program is exclusively for WCHS juniors and seniors who have a passion for exploring aviation career opportunities and are eager to secure internships either after high school or during their college years.

Program Goals

Our program is designed to provide students with invaluable experiences, practical skills, and vital connections to help them thrive in their future careers. Through hands-on learning, career exploration, networking, and mentorship, students will gain insight into the diverse opportunities within aviation and related industries.

Key Opportunities

  • Quarterly Industry Field Trips: Visit the airport, see aviation careers in action, and envision yourself in one of the many roles and opportunities in aviation.
  • Hands-On Learning: Engage with aviation maintenance, piloting, drone technology, and more through dynamic learning sessions.
  • Career Exploration: Learn about various careers in aviation and related fields.
  • Networking: Build connections with potential employers and industry leaders.
  • Internships and Mentorship: Access summer internships and ongoing support from our Flight Forward Partners to foster your growth in aviation or related fields.

Flight Forward Partners

Flight Forward Partners is an aviation workforce development group aiming to foster collaboration between industry and educational partners to drive the growth of the aviation sector. Flight Forward Partners meet quarterly with a primary focus on connecting community job seekers with a multitude of career opportunities within the aviation and aerospace industries.

SAM is currently working with industry partners to catalog aviation industry internships, apprenticeships, industry field trips, industry speakers, and mentors to share with local schools and job seekers.
