How long does my membership last? When does my membership begin?

Can I share my membership with my sister, neighbor, uncle, brother?

Why do I have to pay tax on membership?

Great question!

According to N.C. Gen. Stat. § 105‑164.4G gross receipts from admission charges to entertainment activities are subject to sales tax and museums are explicitly included in the definition of entertainment activities. So, since we give free admission, and reduced admission as part of the membership benefits, we are required to charge sales tax on the membership dues. We don't keep it- it goes straight to Raleigh!

(this is also why we have to charge sales tax on the admission charges)
