Greg Boulanger, HNTB Expand

Greg Boulanger is the Charlotte Practice Leader for HNTB’s Charlotte office, whose primary focus is on serving the transportation needs of the region. Boulanger has demonstrated his dedication to understanding the region’s goal of minimizing impacts to residents and businesses through sound, innovative, and collaborative infrastructure solutions. His encompassing experience in managing and implementing various transportation design, planning and construction projects for both the public and private sectors in the highway, transit, and aviation market sectors in the region has allowed him to lead important capital investment projects to maintain the growth and vitality of the community and improve the quality of life of its citizens.

With more than 20 years of diverse transportation industry experience in planning, engineering design and construction management, Boulanger has been involved in nearly $3 billion in construction projects across North Carolina and the East Coast. Active within the industry, Boulanger has served as chair of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee and is member of the Aviation Committee and Board of Directors.

Boulanger is a member of International Transportation Engineers and the Construction Management Association of America. Boulanger and his wife have lived in Charlotte for more than 10 years and are parents of a 7-year old boy and 6-year old daughter.

Gene Carney, CLT Airport (Retired) Expand

Business Affiliation: Charlotte Douglas International Airport (retired)

Mr. Carney is a native Charlottean who retired from over thirty years in various management positions at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. When he retired in 2012, he held the position of Assistant Aviation Director- Operations responsible for all landslide and airside operations. During the Vietnam War he served our country as a navigator on C-124s with the North Carolina Air National Guard. He has a Bachelor degree In Chemistry from Duke University and post graduate studies in business at University of North Carolina Charlotte.

As a board member of Sullenberger Aviation Museum, Mr. Carney is excited to be involved in future development of facilities and programs.

Jay Potter, CPCC (Retired) Expand

Business Affiliation: Central Piedmont Community College (retired)

Jay Potter retired as the Dean of the Harper Campus at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) in August 2016 after a 15-year career. In this role, he was responsible for many of the workforce development Associate of Applied Science Programs at the College such as: Welding, Non Destructive Examination, Electrical Systems Technology, Air Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration Technology, Architectural Technology and Construction Management. Jay has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and a Master’s of Science Degree in Organizational Change and Leadership from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, NC. Jay is also a registered Professional Engineer in North Carolina and has worked as an engineer in the Nuclear, Information Technology and Textile Industries. He previously owned an Engineering Consulting and General Contracting firm prior to joining CPCC. In 2012 Jay received an Energy Leadership Award from the Charlotte Business Journal for his efforts in developing programs that support the Energy Industry at the College.

During his career at CPCC, Mr. Potter worked closely with organizations to develop talent pipelines for energy technicians utilizing a combination of existing curriculum programs, customized continuing education courses and internship/workplace learning approaches. His unique skill sets and career experiences are a valuable asset for any organization seeking to work with Community Colleges to develop their talent pipeline.

Brian N. Siegel, Bank of America Expand

Business Affiliation: Bank of America

Brian N. Siegel is a Senior Vice President with Bank of America’s Global Arts & Culture team.  He oversees management and usage of the Bank of America Art Collection as well as leads many of the company’s global arts programs including the Art Conservation Project and Art in our Communities.

Before assuming his current position in March 2018, Brian was the Head of Event Operations for the Global Events team where he was responsible for managing audit, risk, compliance, procurement, training and technology development for a team of 80 event planners in the United States, Europe and Asia.  Prior to that role, he was the Client Engagement Executive for the Global Sponsorship Marketing team where helped oversee the company’s sports sponsorship strategy, including execution of more than 100 programs each year.  Prior to joining Bank of America, Mr. Siegel worked from 1999-2004 for IMG, which was, at the time, the leading sports marketing agency in the United States.

A resident of Charlotte since 1986, Mr. Siegel graduated from Charlotte’s Providence High School before earning an undergraduate degree in Sports Sciences at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and a Masters in Sports Management from the University of Utah.  Mr. Siegel has a wife and two children and is an active member of the local community.  In 2009, he was a passenger on US Airways Flight 1549 – the “Miracle on the Hudson.”

Joe Valasquez, DroneScape Expand

Business Affiliation: Founder at DroneScape, PLLC

Joe Valasquez is founder and Chief Flight Engineer of DroneScape, PLLC. DroneScape is a professional engineering firm in the Carolinas, focused on engineering drone applications and training. The Company offers engineering services requiring drone applications including; ground reconnaissance aligned with 3D technology, infrared assessments, and structural inspection. Services include environmental assessments, cell tower inspection, power generation aerial reconnaissance and remote location video photography.

Joe is a registered professional engineer in North Carolina with over 30 years’ experience in varying engineering management positions with Fortune 500 corporations. He has held senior management positions in Bank of America, Motorola and Honeywell. He holds a private pilot license with over 20 years flight experience and most recently, a drone pilot.

He holds a Bachelor degree in engineering from the University of Arizona, and an MBA in finance from Southern Illinois University.
