T-33 Thursday Talks

September 26 @ 11:00 am - 11:30 am

Event Series Event Series (See All)

Join our Collections Team every other week for a behind-the-scenes look at our work to restore this special aviation artifact that will be featured in our new Aviation City gallery (opening in 2025)! You will learn more about the Museum’s T-33, the beginning of the jet age, and what goes into transforming a plane into an interactive experience.

About the T-33 Restoration Project

SAM recently moved its T-33 from storage to the Museum’s Outdoor Aircraft Plaza for restoration prior to moving into its permanent home in the Historic Hangar. The aircraft will be stanchioned off across from the C-130 and will be on display as the Collections team, volunteers, and contractors complete the restoration over the next year. Every other Thursday, the Collections team will give a brief talk on the restoration work currently taking place, as well as giving some insight into the history of the T-33. Afterwards visitors are invited to ask questions.

Once restoration is complete, this aircraft will feature a two-seat interactive cockpit, the back seat will be wheelchair accessible. It will have simulators in both seats simulating the cockpit view of a T-33.

T-33 Thursday Talks are included with regular museum admission.
