The work varies from serving customers from around the world to working next to one of the planes on the tarmac; from the rumble of takeoffs and landings to the reunions of families and friends.

American team members play an integral role in ensuring every customer has a successful journey. American is the world’s largest airline with thousands of customers coming through its doors each day. The American Airlines group was named the fifth largest employer in the Charlotte region in 2023, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. At the CLT hub alone, there are more than 14,000 American team members and across the state those working at the reservation offices in Cary and Winston-Salem plus team members at other North Carolina airports brings the total number of American Airlines employees statewide to about 16,000. In 2022, American carried more than 42 million passengers through its Charlotte hub.
